A Great and Marvellous Work

Hola!

So this week not too much happened, but we did have a baptism yesterday! It was this lady who is about 70 years old and she is the sweetest ever! Holy cow. She has a depression of some sort and it has been amazing to see the change the gospel has made in her life. It was so cool cause earlier this week one of her grandsons was at her house when we were and we started talking to him and hes like yeah i can see such a change in my grandma, shes not as tired anymore and she is so much happier. And she never reads ANYTHING but everytime i come over to her house now she always has her glasses on and is reading that book. I cant get her to look up from it! It has been such a blessing to see the changes that Jesus Christ and his gospel can make in peoples lives! As she came out of the water all she had to say is "estoy contenta!"

Now what her grandson said leads me to my next point, THE BOOK OF MORMON IS THE BEST! oh my gosh. Im pretty sure that every missionary would probably back me up on this that they wish they read it more before their mission just because its such a great book! Just thinking about it makes me so happy. There is such a spirit that comes from that book that is indescribable and you can indefinately feel God´s presence when you read it. I love the book of mormon!

And finally something that i realized (or probably rerealized) while cleaning our apartment and comes from Moses 1:39 where it says "this is my work and my glory, to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of men." God´s work has always been the same, it missionary work! Bringing his children back to him! He wants us to be happy. He knows that we can be infinately and eternally happy if we return to him. The only way to do this is through faith, repentance, baptism, the gift of the holy ghost, and enduring to the end! I am so happy to be working in the vineyard in the work of the lord. There are so many people prepared to hear. All i want in life is to see the people i love in the next life! "When you get to the celestial kingdom, its not about you but the people you bring with you!"

Have a great week!

Snow?

Hello everyone!

This week hasnt been too eventful, minus the weather. Yeah. It snowed a bit. It melted and turned to rain before it got to the ground BUT for us on the 6th floor of our apartment building, we saw snow. No we are not crazy. They were white flurries FLOATING around. Rain, sleet, and hail do not float. Needless to say we were a little unfocused in our studies that day. For the record it NEVER snows in Buenos Aires... well supposably never

Also, people thinking that I´m from germany has been taken to a new level! We were walking and passed this man and he said hola to my companion and the member we were with then to me he said gutentag (i think thats how you spell hello in german...?) but yeah. it was super funny. We got really confused.

Other than that we´re looking and looking and looking for people to teach! (thats not a surprise, were missionaries thats what we do haha) The lord is so  good to us and is blessing us so much! He is definitely in the details of our lives and it is so amazing to feel his love. I love helping others feel this way through the message of the gospel. The savior is our perfect example and he wants us to feel his love and be happy. He always wants the best for us, you just have to make an effort to improve. He WILL help you. He will carry you when you feel like you cant go on. Always give 110%!

I love you all and hope you have a great week!

Hey, Mr. Grumpy Gills!

When life gets you down, do you know what you got to do?

Just Keep Swimming!

Hey everyone! I hope all is well with you all!

Wow this week has gone by really quickly and I have learned a lot. First off, when things are being trying, have patience and recognize the Lord in the small details, because he is there. We had a day this week where literally EVERYTHING that could go wrong, did. I joked with my companion toward the end of the day that the only thing physically possible that could make things worse is if we got hit by a car. My comp came close 2 times after that hahah But one of the things that happened was we were walking and i wasnt paying attention to where i was going and stepped right in a pile of dog droppings (you have to be careful where you step in argentina). I looked up and was like are you for real? (at this point we just kinda thought all this was funny and laughed) and this guy walks by and was like hey! thats good luck! here in argentina its good luck! so i scrape it off then find a puddle (it had rained that day) and got the rest of it off and the guy was still around and was being supportive and so we were like um hey do you want to hear about the gospel? and he was super receptive and was really awesome. unfortunately he didnt live in our area and wouldnt give us his address but said he would come to church at some point in the future. dont know if it will go anywhere but he was nice. But this week we also "randomly" (lets be real nothing is random or on accident) ran into a bunch of people that we needed to.
Lesson 2, just keep swimming! Yeah i know missionaries arent allowed to swim but i like finding nemo ok? haha Satan will to everything to get you discouraged or to give up or to stop being obedient or to get you to slow down cause he knows something is coming. You just need to follow the spirit and keep going cause its worth it! We are promised that everything comes "after the trial of your faith," so just keep going!
Lesson 3, as usual, share the gospel! but seriously. So we found someone this week who lives next door to a less active family and she ended up coming to church and a member walked into the chapel yesterday before church started and we started talking to her and were just about to introduce her to our investigator but then she did this double take and was like oh my gosh MY FRIEND! apparently they had worked together for 35+ years and now have met again in church. they were like a couple of school girls it was so cute. moral of the story: when they talk about how if we dont share the gospel with our friends in this life, in the next life they will ask us why didnt you share it with me?, it happens in this life too. so basically share the gospel with your friends, or just send the missionaries over to their house! trust me your friends will thank you! and if not, it might take a little bit longer but the missionaries will find teach and baptize your friends anyways :)
So something fun that happened this week: we had a ward mission activity where we basically talked about missionary work. So the elders were in charge of the spiritual thought and we were in charge of ice breaking games and for as loving and open and friendly as people are here in south america. theyre just about equally as awkward about playing ice breaker games as we are in the states. haha we ended up playing do you love your neighbor which ended up being a big hit (after everyone figured out how to play cause 2 greengos from the us trying to explain a game in spanish that we usually play in english is very interesting)

hope everything is well on the other side of the world!

Un Re Escogido

Ahhhh So one of our investigators (I think i mentioned him last week) is literally the greatest. He was the one who I was really skeptacle about at first then last week the was talking about how he feels full when he talks to us. Well yeah. It has been confirmed, hes the best. So we taught him this week and it was the first time Hermana Scarlett taught him or met him or anything and she was talking to him and was trying to get a background about where he is at as an investigator and she found out that he hadnt prayed about a small detail or hadnt done something that we usually ask investigators to pray about and all this stuff and i was feeling really awkward cause we hadnt asked him to do whatever it was before but then he responds with "ummmm i dont think i need to. I already know that the church is true and that everything that you are teaching me is the truth. I have already recieved my answer and i dont doubt anything. I know that the book of mormon is true too and i love to read it" I just about died of happiness. THEN we saw him like 2 days later walking to work and he was smoking and he showed it to us and hes like sorry so we asked him what cigarette number this one was and he said its 6 and my last for today (before we started teaching him he was at a pack of 20 a day) so i was like whatever no biggie. we know hes working on it and told him its alright and that hes doing great in his progress. but then we were talking to him checking up on him on how he was doing then hes like you know what i feel terrible about this so he just threw his newly lit last cigarette for the day behind him into the street! and we were like uh what? oh hes so great. im so glad that he found us.
Not much more happened this week. OH except for the fact that this member who we ate with yesterday is awesome and sells stuff. So hes like oh yeah i also found a manufactuer of peanut butter and its like the kind from the states and its not super expencive like the rest of argentina. so we were like uhhh what?! Cause there is NO peanut butter down here. it makes the people from the states down here really sad. but yeah. so he was like yeah if you want ill give you some. ANd we just about died. He gave us each a jar of creamy and a jar of crunchy. Im going to make it last a while. Basically the only other thing was we helped with an open house of a chapel a few areas over which was pretty cool. but yeah! That was my week!
